Is Melanin Getaways an authorized travel agent?

Yes, Melanin Getaways is registered with the State of California Seller of Travel program. Our registration # is CST 2144270-40. “Registration as a seller of travel does not constitute approval by the State of California.”

Is a deposit required to secure my booking?

Yes, a deposit is REQUIRED for all parties interested in joining one of our itineraries. All deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable! (NO EXCEPTIONS)

Are any of my payments refundable?

All payments received after the non-refundable deposit will be subject to our refund & cancellation policy as well as the refund & cancellation policies of any provider of travel services we are contracted with. We recommend you obtain travel insurance to ensure your trip and purchase can be “canceled for any reason”. Each itinerary will specify the refund & cancellation policy (vendor policies are subject to change).

How will I keep up with the latest details of my trip?

Once we have confirmed your booking, our primary method of communication will be via email. Please make sure to add travel@melaningetaways.com to your contact list so that you receive all our correspondence.

I've secured my booking, but now my friend or family member wants to go. Can they be added?

If all spaces on the trip have not been filled, he/she is more than welcome to join us! A deposit is required to secure their space plus all payments that would have been due prior to them joining the group. If there are no available spaces we will add them to our waitlist. Waitlisted guests are contacted first should additional space open within the group.

I’m traveling solo or would prefer more privacy. Are there single occupancy options available?

Absolutely. During booking, select the single occupancy option. If you don't see this option available, please email us at travel@melaningetaways.com to inquire about availability prior to booking.

Is transportation to the departure destination included?

No, unless otherwise stated on a scheduled itinerary Melanin Getaways does not provide transportation (airline flights, airport transfers, or any other methods of transportation. You must arrange all your transportation to/from our departure destinations.

How do I get notified about when a new group trip opens for booking?

We will send out emails to our mailing list first before publishing to the public, so please be sure to subscribe to the Melanin Getaways VIP email list. After the VIP pre-booking time period has passed, we will publish to social media, etc.

What if my roommate and I have a disagreement prior to departure or during the trip? What are our options?

Disagreements should be handled amicably between both parties. If the trip has not commenced and you wish to change your accommodations, all changes will be subject to availability and will incur a name change or cancellation fee. Additional fees may apply for the difference in price from our travel suppliers. If disagreements occur while on a trip, both parties will be responsible for coming to a amicable agreement. If you or your roommate are unable to remain in the current accommodation, you will be responsible for booking or arranging your own accommodations and/or return flights for the remainder of the trip. Melanin Getaways will not be responsible for booking additional accommodations, flights and/or transportation. No refunds will be offered for any portion of the trip once the refund period has expired. No exceptions!
